I overheard Bill tell our nephew, Cody, who is visiting us right now, that our last family vacation was a visit to Crystal Beach in August 2008. I couldn't believe that it had been that long.
Bill has carved a week out of his travel and work schedule are packing up later this month and heading to Broken Bow, OK. We have been there before. Rose was a tiny, fuzzy newborn. We needed a little vacation but didn't want to travel far in the car with four small kiddos. Three hours in a car seemed reasonable, though, for a total change of scenery and a bit of fun for the whole family! We found a little, rustic cabin in the state park right in the midst of the Ouachita national forest. We still have magnets on our refrigerator--small little "chipmunk" magnets made out of walnut shells that Meg and Grace made with one of the park rangers as part of their nature study program. :) Good memories!
This visit we will be staying in Dry Creek Lodge so we can be close to the water for fishing, wading and swimming. Bill, especially, is looking forward to dusting off his flyrod and fishing on a nice body of water. We are all eager to enjoy the outdoors and spend time together as a family. God is good, we are so grateful to be able to vacation together this year and for Bill's job which provides the means to travel to such a beautiful area.
We can't wait!
Sounds perfect. So glad you are going to be able to get away as a family.

Sounds like my dream vacation! Do you have room for nine more? ;-)
Enjoy and soak in a little quiet for me.
