T3: The Teen Timeline
This is a newly-released teenage version of the Great Adventure Bible Timeline learning system by Jeff Cavins. From the website: “T3 makes the Bible come alive for Catholic teens by unpacking God’s Word in a way they can relate to. T3 teaches teens the Bible by showing them the “big picture” of salvation history. When young students of the Bible first understand the “story,” they are eager to learn more. The net result: Teens begin to wrap their minds and hearts around the Scriptures, perhaps for the first time. They come to see the Bible as something good and relevant—and then make it part of their lives.”
Catechism
Faith and Life 7: The Life of Grace (published by Ignatius Press)
Read, narrate and discuss one lesson per week.
Description from Ignatius Press:
The student textbook lessons incorporate the four principal components of catechesis: the Creed, the Commandments, the Sacraments and Liturgy, Prayer and Scripture. But besides giving a clear and comprehensive presentation of our faith, the student textbook is rich in artwork, both original and classical.
THEME: Grace as our link with God, his gift to us to bring us to Himself and his eternal life, with an emphasis on transmission of grace through the seven sacraments and on God's loving gifts of revelation, of himself through the prophets, the Incarnation, and the Church. The role of grace in developing the virtues.
SEQUENCE:
Part 1: God Reveals Himself. The revelation of God through creation, the prophets, and to the chosen people.
Part 2: God becomes Man. Jesus, true God and true Man, Priest and Sacrifice.
Part 3: God Shares His Life. The operation of grace in our lives, in developing the virtues especially through each sacrament.
AIM: To help the young person treasure the sacraments as indispensable to a full Christian life of love and truth. To understand how grace works in our soul and its relation to practicing the virtues and to appreciate our gifts of reason and faith.
Apologetics
Prove It! God by Amy Welborn
Prove It! Jesus by Amy Welborn
From Catholic News Service: “Unlike so many authors for teens who really talk to the parents and then the parents anxiously prod their child to listen, Welborn writes to the teen. She has a real knack for meeting the teens at their own level, respecting their position and then inviting them to a higher level. Overall, the book would make a great gift and a fantastic textbook for any teen in seventh to 12th grade. Theologically precise and genuinely funny, the book provides the needed resources for a teen to logically explain and articulate his faith."

This year (7th grade), Meg's focus will be a study in depth of the seven sacraments, a general study of bible history and reinforcing the basic tenets of our Catholic faith through the study of apologetics and modern saints.
Next year (8th grade), Meg's studies will be focused on the Sacrament of Confirmation itself, emphasizing the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit, Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy ( completing service projects) with a continued study of holy scripture and lives of the saints as examples to follow.

I'm starting the Great Adventure Bible timeline on Sept. 10 with a group from our church. I'd love to hear how Meg likes it!
