Seven Things About Me

Michele, from Decrease to Increase, and a friend IRL, tagged me for this meme. I don't have too much time this week, so thankfully, I'll make this brief. (Like anyone wants to hear seven random things about me!).

The rules are:

2. Post rules on your blog.
3. Write 7 non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
4. Name 7 of your favorite blogs.
5. Send an email/comment on their blog letting them know they have been tagged.

Okey, dokey, here we go.

1. I seriously thought about putting my toddler in panties before taking her to the pediatrician for her much-postponed well-visit. I didn't want to have to "explain" why I'm not stressed about her still wearing diapers. :S

2. Meg, my 12 year old, is a better and definitely a more naturally-gifted cook than I am!

3. I wish I had the grace and ability to join my girls in Irish Dancing (they have a class for beginner adults, too!), but alas, I was hopeless at dancing, even as a child! :(

4. I was always attracted to red-headed men as a young woman and ended up marrying one, YEAH!

5. I have been having a ball watching episodes of Star Trek Enterprise and Voyager with my big girls most nights after the littles are in bed...I am THIS close to becoming one of those weird Trekkies!

6. I hate calling people on the phone that I don't know well, I guess it is a phone-phobia?

7. I thought about giving up coffee for Lent but decided that it would be more of a sacrifice for my family than it would be for me.

Five of my favorite things

Katherine has kindly tagged me for this fun meme! :)

These are a few of my favorite things (can you hear the strains of Maria singing from The Sound of Music?)...

1. Jamba Juice...my favorite smoothie is the "Bright-Eyed and Blueberry." Yum!

2. My baby sling. I have used a sling since the very beginning of my life as a mother! I love the closeness and bonding that comes with wearing your baby. Many, many moons ago, I purchased a blue and white striped Nojo for my first daughter. I switched to some pretty fabrics in the OTSBH with my next three blessings and unsuccessfully attempted a Maya Wrap with my fifth, only to return to my old favorite OTSBH. But, I LOVE the fabrics that the Maya Wraps come in, so I tried again and voila, this time with some tips from a dear friend on how to adjust it to a more pouch like contraption, baby Joseph and I were very happily flitting here and there in our colorful new wrap! And one of the best things about this sling? The built in zipper pouch--a perfect place to put my keys, checkcard and a few other necessaries when I run into the store. Wonderful! Of course, my OTSBH is still a sentimental favorite--especially the new black and white floral pattern that I bought when baby Joseph was in utero!

3. Our Clearplay DVD player! How else would our 9 and 12 year olds be able to enjoy Young Frankenstein?

4. Kashi products--I'm addicted. I don't have as much time to bake as I have in the past (though the two biggest girls are baking often--their choices are often not conducive to my recent measures to try and slim down!). Well, these healthy baked snacks really satisfy my urge for a treat--and they're pure! My favorites--the TLC 7 grain crackers, the TLC granola bars (esp. the almond flax) and the new oatmeal dark chocolate chip cookie--very, very high in fiber but low in calories!

5. My new crocs (cotton-candy colored!)--they are super comfortable and I put them on in the morning and find that I accomplish a whole lot more than when I go bare-foot! I'm not sure the Fly-Lady would totally approve, because I don't lace them up--but the idea is the same! :)
