Tell Me A Story, Daddy!

 

 We have been adjusting slowly but surely to Bill's travel schedule with his new job.  :)  When he is home, we try to make the most of our time with him.  Marie (5) got Tell Me A Story from her grandparents for Christmas and one afternoon, she and her Daddy had a lot of fun making up silly stories (many of them very long and with intricate details!) with the cards.  I highly recommend the Eeboo brand of games.  We have the Tea Party Game and it has been a big hit at our house as well.  They are very well-made and so delightfully engaging for young ones!    

I am hoping to begin again with regularly documenting some of our days on the blog.  Life has been so full, though, that I have been finding it hard to pull together my thoughts enough for even a quick post.   :S

When you have a bored...

...nine year old who doesn't want to read (even though he's reading this right now and loving it), or ride his bike (and it's lovely out) and the toddler is asleep, what do you do?

Challenge him to a card game.  When he offers to play a rousing game of Go Fish, decline kindly and be amazed at what you can choose from here.

(We chose War; it had been a while since I played and my gray cells aren't what they used to be, needless to say, I needed a reminder on the rules--this site is fan-tabulous!!).

The end result?  A happy boy and a happy mama!!  :)

Ornament Exchange

Diane, a generous homeschooling mom living in Belgium, is a woman with great ideas!! She thought it would be fun to host an ornament exchange for some 4 Real families. She took some precious time during the busy Advent season and matched up families and it added a bit of excitement to our Christmas season knowing that a package was coming soon with an ornament for our tree! Thank you, Diane for making our Christmas a little more special this year!

I received my lovely handmade ornament from Michele Q.. She is such an amazing person--having time to sew a darling Christmas ornament, get it posted and care for a newborn baby at the same time! The ornament is a Christmas tree and was hand-sewn, with love by Michele, in festive Christmas fabric. Each tier of the tree is separated by colorful buttons and the tree is topped with a bright gold star! It will be an ornament that we will treasure for many more Christmases to come! Thank you, Michele!!

As you can see in the above photo, our Christmas tree is very, very dry. This is the first year I have ever kept it up until Epiphany. Guess what's on my to do list for Monday morning?
