The First Born
Oil on canvas
My oldest daughter, Meg, sent me a link to this lovely painting. It evokes a strong memory. I remember those early days with Meg, when I would nestle with her in bed and nurse and read all day long. I remember feeling so grateful for my dear husband, who was working so hard to make it possible for me and Meg to snuggle in bed and nurse and learn to love one another! Isn't it marvelous when a painting triggers such lovely memories and moves us to remember a similar time in our own lives? It also makes me very joyful to recognize that Meg also appreciates this painting as I do...makes me think that perhaps, somewhere in the dark recesses of her mind, her former baby self remembers being that little baby held so close and warm in my arms. :)
