Summer. It's ending but here in Texas, it seems like it just goes on and on and on. The heat, the sun, the dry weather. My gardening has pretty much consisted of just watering and tending my new plantings (shrubs in June--not the smartest idea) so they will survive until fall and cooler temps. We are only in the high 90's now, so perhaps in a few weeks, we will be enjoying some nicer weather. I am itching to get outdoors and dig in the dirt again! Therapeutic gardening. It helps!
Last week, when the summer heat was at it's worst, we drove our oldest daughter known as Meg on this blog, to college. What a blessing that she can live on campus, enjoying the comraderie of new friends and the (incremental!) independence that comes with living away from home. The best part (for me and probably for her, too!) is that she is only 30 minutes away. She can come home for birthdays (Marie was so happy to have her here yesterday to celebrate her 9th birthday), a home-cooked meal and hugs often!
This blog is almost seven years old. My life is so different now than it was when I began blogging (pregnant with my seventh child and my oldest only 11!). Our homeschool days are different than they were then. Our first day back to the books today went unbelievably well. I had a yummy dinner ready by 5:30 so that Bill and the boys could scarf it down and still make it to soccer practice. Who would have thought? The Lord is merciful; His grace abounds.
I have neglected this little blog. I am not sure if this is the season to resurrect it or not, but I have decided to give it a try. I am sure that if I am meant to, it will be a blessing, not a burden to post here and there...I miss tapping out my thoughts.
Until next time...
