I struggled to get the answer to this without cheating and googling the answer...well, I googled and STILL did not get the answer, so my Dad emailed me a few hints.
Hint #1: " Just let your mind flow and you will discover the answer."
Hint #2: "Bill probably read (or if he hasn't, he'd surely enjoy) the novella by Norman Maclean." (My husband is an avid fly-fisherman wannabe, so I guessed A River Runs Through It and I was right).
Did you get it, yet? Well, here's the list again:
Fill in the blank.
1. Vermont, Connecticut, New Hampshire
2. Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey
3. Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky
4. Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee
5. Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska
6. California, Colorado, Arizona
7. Washington, ______________, Oregon
I supposed that the middle word was a state, but guess what? They are rivers!!! For instance, the Connecticut River is the longest river in New England . It runs 410 miles from the Canadian border through Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut to Long Island Sound. Regarding, the quiz question, Washington and Oregon are both states through which the river COLUMBIA flows.....So, the answer: Columbia! :)
A few facts regarding the Columbia River (which does indeed form much of the border between Washington and Oregon). Thanks, Dad for the fun quiz; I love you! :)
